What are these DocuSign Recipient Types within Nintex Drawloop?

If you use Nintex Drawloop + DocuSign you have probably using the Signer recipient type and are wondering what the different recipient Types are and when they can be used. Below we break down what each recipient Type does and provide use case examples:

Agent

If you do not know who needs to sign the agreement you can send it to an ‘Agent’.  The agent can then route the agreement to the appropriate signer.

Example: Richard needs to have a NDA agreement signed by a prospective customer. He is unsure who the signer is on the customer side but he does have the email address to the legal department. Richard can use the ‘Agent’ recipient type and email the generated NDA agreement to the legal department. Once a member of the legal department received the NDA agreement they can enter the email address for the correct signer and it will be rerouted for signature.

Carbon Copy

Recipient received a copy of the agreement but does not need to sign the agreement.

Example: XYZ Paper’s finance department would like to receive a copy of every Quote sent to customers. They do not need to sign the Quote and they do not need to view the Quote in order for the envelope to be completed.

Certified Delivery

Similar to the Carbon Copy type, the recipient receives a copy of the agreement.  They do not need to sign the agreement HOWEVER they do need to view the agreement in order for the envelope to be completed.

Example: XYZ Paper’s legal department has requested a copy of all contracts sent out for client signature. They would like to review the contracts prior to the client receiving the agreement but they do not need to sign the contracts. Adding a recipient with the ‘Certified Delivery’ recipient type allows the legal department to be emailed a copy of generated contract documents without a requirement that they sign the agreement.

In Person Signer

You set a Specified Host who receives the agreement via email. The host opens the agreement and hands the mobile device to the Specified In Person Signer who then signs the document. The Signer hands the device back to the Host and the Host enters their DocuSign credentials and the envelope is completed.

Example: Richard needs the CEO of XYZ Paper to sign a new contract. The CEO of XYZ Paper has requested all contracts go through his Executive Assistant. Using the In Person Signer recipient type Richard can generate the document and send it to the Executive Assistant. The Executive Assistant can then open the agreement on an iPad and present it to the CEO for signature.
